To ensure the smooth organization of the FISU World University Championship Mind Sports 2022 we are looking for enthusiastic and social volunteers.
The FISU World University Championship Mind Sports will take place from Sunday 11 to Saturday 17 September 2022 at the University of Antwerp in Antwerp (Belgium). This Championship of Mind Sports for students consists of two different competitions: Bridge and Chess. A total of about 200 participants will take part.

Quantitative Entry Deadline for the 2022 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports Chess & Bridge is on 11 June 2022.
By submitting quantitative entries, NUSFs confirm their participation, indicating the number of officials and participants for each sport event.
Also, 25% of the total Participation Fee is due by bank transaction to the FISU WUC Mind Sports 2022 Organization Committee by 11/06/2022.

Antwerp is the host city of the 2022 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports.
Antwerp is the economic capital of Belgium and the largest and most important city of Flanders, the Dutch speaking and most populated region of Belgium.
The city center has a population of 529,000 inhabitants, the metropolitan area over 1.1 million inhabitants and the Antwerp Province over 1.8 million inhabitants. Internationally, Antwerp is the largest diamond trade center in the world, the second largest port of Europe and the Antwerp Fashion Academy is considered one of the best in the world, ensuring the highest concentration of fashion shops and flagship stores within Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. On a sports level, Antwerp hosted the Olympic Games in 1920 and was the European Capital of Sport in 2013. FISU Technical Chair Chess Lukasz Turlej (Poland) visited the WUC 2022 Mind Sports venue, the University of Antwerp’s Hof van Liere and met with Geert Bailleul (president of the Belgian Royal Chess Federation) and Nils Van de Velden (event coordinator, University of Antwerp). All is looking great to welcome the world’s top student chess (and bridge) players in Antwerp in september!
Students were playing chess at the University of Antwerp and following the games of the FIDE World Chess Championship Dubai 2021 live on chess24.
Today was a memorable moment: Magnus Carlsen completed his fifth successful world championship match, winning his Dubai title defence. He just proved that he is the best chess player in the world.
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is the governing body of the sport of chess, and it regulates all international chess competitions.
FIDE is the partner of the 2022 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports. The FISU chess competitions shall be organized in accordance with the most recent technical regulations of FIDE.

Last Friday the WUC Mind Sports Organizing Committee met “virtually” with the FISU Technical Commissions Bridge and Chess and representatives from the FISU Office. The full program of the event was discussed at length and all venues to be used during the event were approved. In less than 10 months we’ll be able to welcome you all in the Hof van Liere in Antwerp!
